Growing Into 2021

Growing Into 2021

Welcome back! It’s been a while and one of my new year resolutions is to write more, so hopefully you will see more posts from us this year. As 2020 comes to a close, I wanted to share, short & sweet, some of the most important things learned this year. It was a challenging year for humanity in general with new experiences all around. I hope we can all take something away from the experiences we share with each other. Happy New Year. 🙂

We are often burdened with heavy choices in life. It is part of what makes us human; how we handle our choices and options. What we choose can make or break us. 2020 oftentimes felt like we had little choice, with lockdowns and new rules and laws left and right. I believe it left many with the weight of feeling helpless. Helpless to make the choices we are used to, to go to work everyday and support the family, to spend time with friends, etc. We were suddenly forced into unfamiliar situations. While hard, these situations force us to be flexible, to accept change, to learn about fluidity in life and to adjust to the new and different status quo. Though many wish that bringing in 2021 will bring us back to the “normal” we all once knew, reality is that it will not. So learning to grow into whatever challenges life will bring is our only solace. This is what I learned in 2020, and to be honest, it was my best year in a long while. My challenges felt very heavy, but I had someone there to lift my burdens.

I put my faith in the Lord in 2020, more so than I had ever done in my life, and he blessed me in every way that He knew I needed. My number one resolution this year is to remember who I am daily (a child of God), that I am loved by him just as I am, and strive to always stand up as a witness for the powerful role He plays in my life. I know that things are going to become more challenging, because honestly if things get easier then how do we grow? Knowing that I have someone at my side, leading me by the hand through the dark, gives me so much peace. It is something I wish everyone could have, though I know its not easy to get to that point. My hard head was dragged through hell to get there, but maybe if I share my testimony of Him and his willingness to share his love with you, maybe a few of you will not have to learn it the hard way.

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you

Matthew 7:7 KJV

So maybe take this next year to reflect on your ability to accept change, challenges and trials and ask yourself if you could use someone to help carry those burdens. Unfortunately the worst is yet to come for most of us, and we could all use a little light to guide us in the darkness. May your 2021 be filled with the light and love of our Savior Jesus Christ, and may you reap the blessings he has in store for you.

With Love,

Drea
